The Defense Secretary also said that this is the first time that the C-295 aircraft will be manufactured outside Europe. In September last year, India signed an agreement with Airbus Defense and Space worth about Rs 21 thousand crore. Under this deal, India had talked about 56 C-295 transport aircraft in place of its old Avro-748 aircraft. Under this project, military aircraft are to be manufactured in India for the first time by a private company. Under the agreement, the C-295 aircraft and additional aircraft will also be manufactured at the Vadodara plant for the needs and exports of the Air Force. In September last year, India had almost signed an agreement with Airbus Defense and Space for the purchase of 56 C-295 transport aircraft in place of the old Avro-748 aircraft of the Air Force.
